I spend a lot of time designing processes to help people get out of their own way. One of the tools that has proven indispensable in this is a great little book called Gamestorming by Dave Gray, Sunni Brown, and James Macanufo. The basic premise of the book is that any process has three parts the opening, the exploration of the idea, and closing to next steps. Gamestorming provides you a set of structured games to deepen engagement and ensure that you get to the goals you are seeking.
This isn’t a magic bullet of course. There is a good deal of work you have to do to adapt the game to your particular context. However, the authors give you an excellent set of tools to get you started. The best part, while the book is awesome…there is an attached wiki which is updated regularly with new games with lots of user feedback. I would say don’t get the kindle version. This book works best in paperback.
